The Cabinet Office of the Prime Minister communicated this in a press release issued to MTI, which also stated that Mr. Orbán will confirm this fact in his meeting with German chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin on Thursday.
Mr. Orbán also informed the Austrian chancellor that Hungary’s position on the issue of migration has remained unchanged since 2015. According to the Cabinet Office’s statement, the Prime Minister told Chancellor Kurz that no asylum seekers have made their initial entry to Europe in Hungary, because the migrants’ mainland migration routes – the Balkan routes – lead through Greece or Bulgaria, with most illegal immigrants arriving on the continent in Greece.
Mr. Orbán will meet Angela Merkel on Thursday, while on Wednesday he will meet German interior minister Horst Seehofer and Wolfgang Schäuble, President of the Bundestag.
