Prior to the meeting, the Hungarian Foreign Minister held talks with his Lebanese counterpart, after which they held a joint press conference at which Mr. Szijjártó stressed the importance of Lebanon, highlighting the fact that it is protecting Christian communities, in addition to which it is also enabling people who are fleeing Middle Eastern trouble spots to stay as close to their homes as possible and return at the earliest opportunity once the situation is resolved. Lebanese Foreign Minister Gibran Bassil stressed that the international community should do more to acknowledge Lebanon’s efforts, and it is good that Hungary is doing so.
