Hungary attributes special significance to relations built with Russia

On the occasion of the national holiday of the Russian Federation, Russia Day, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán sent messages of best wishes to President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Bertalan Havasi, the Prime Minister’s press chief informed the Hungarian news agency MTI on Friday.

In a message written to the Russian head of state, Mr Orbán highlighted that “the fight against the novel coronavirus has thrown difficult tasks into our path; however, in the past few months our countries have fought the epidemic successfully. My government attributes special significance to relations built with the Russian Federation. I am happy to acknowledge that in recent years we have forged a regular dialogue and manifold cooperation. I sincerely hope that we will be able to continue the development of bilateral relations also in person soon,” the Hungarian Prime Minister wrote.

Mr Orbán reassured Mr Putin that also in the future Hungary will do everything it can in the interest of furthering the good relations established between the two countries and promoting successful economic, trade, cultural, scientific and educational cooperation.

The Hungarian Prime Minister sent a message with a similar content to Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin as well, Mr Havasi said.
