Prime Minister Orbán travels to Malta

The one-day Maltese summit is being hosted by Prime Minister of Malta Joseph Muscat and chaired by President of the European Council Donald Tusk, with the participation of 28 EU heads of state and government. The topic of the workshop on Friday morning is migration. Discussions are expected to concentrate on the central Mediterranean migration route and a solution to the conflict in Libya.

The afternoon workshop will involve preparations for events marking the 60th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Rome, which established the European Economic Community. The participants will also discuss the future of the 27-member European Union following the departure of the United Kingdom.

Mr. Havasi pointed out that Prime Minister Orbán held talks with his Maltese counterpart in Budapest in December, during which he assured Mr. Muscat that Hungary greatly appreciates Malta’s aims in relation to its presidency of the European Union, and that it will be a positive partner during its six-month presidential term, doing everything possible to find solutions and achieve results within the framework of the EU.
