Prime Minister Viktor Orbán congratulated Joe Biden

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán sent a message of congratulations and best wishes to Joe Biden on the occasion of his inauguration as President of the United States of America, Bertalan Havasi, the Deputy State Secretary heading the Press Office of the Prime Minister informed the Hungarian news agency MTI on Wednesday evening.

The Prime Minister wrote the past four years had proved that amicable and mutually advantageous cooperation between the United States and Hungary offered great opportunities in a number of areas. Mr Orbán noted with pleasure that this period had opened up new perspectives in bilateral relations in the areas of security, energy policy and the economy.

The Prime Minister reassured Mr Biden of the fact that the Hungarian government remains fully committed to strengthening Hungarian-US relations on the foundations of mutual respect and good will, “building upon our alliance within NATO, our commitment to the fight against terrorism, and our joint aspiration to secure alternative energy sources for Central Europe. I wish you much success and good health with the fulfilment of your responsible duties,” Mr Orbán wrote, concluding his message to the new President of the United States.
