Prime Minister Viktor Orbán had talks with Chair of the National Assembly of Azerbaijan

In the Carmelite Monastery, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán received Chair of the National Assembly of Azerbaijan Sahiba Gafarova with whom he had talks about bilateral energy, educational and trade relations, Bertalan Havasi, the head of the Press Office of the Prime Minister informed the Hungarian news agency MTI on Tuesday afternoon.

At the meeting, which was also attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó, the parties established that Azerbaijan will continue to play an important role in Europe’s energy supply also in the future with an increase in the exploration of the country’s gas fields.

The fact that this year as many as 900 Azeri students applied for Hungarian scholarships clearly indicates the strengthening of cooperation in education, the parties confirmed.

At the meeting, the parties also discussed the fact that the volume of trade between Hungary and Azerbaijan has increased by 88 per cent this year, and there are further reserves in the economic cooperation of the two countries, Mr Havasi said.
