On Saturday morning in Madrid, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán had talks with Marine Le Pen, the French National Rally’s candidate for president of the republic, about the possibilities of closer cooperation among European conservative forces, Bertalan Havasi, the head of the Press Office of the Prime Minister informed the Hungarian news agency MTI.

At the meeting, the parties highlighted that at present Europe’s many millions of citizens professing traditional Christian and national values do not have adequate political representation in the EU, and therefore close cooperation among the continent’s right-wing parties is essential.

At the meeting, the parties also reviewed the status of the building of a European conservative party alliance that started last summer and the tasks of the near future.
On Saturday, the party presidents forming part of the European Right will hold a summit in Madrid, following which Mr Orbán will travel to Paris where he will have talks with former President of the French Republic Nicolas Sarkozy, Mr Havasi said.
