Prime Minister Viktor Orbán had talks with Turkish Foreign Minister about fight against the pandemic and bilateral relations

The Turkish Foreign Minister is paying an official visit to Hungary at the invitation of his Hungarian counterpart Péter Szijjártó.

At the meeting with Mr Orbán, the parties discussed every aspect of Turkish-Hungarian relations, and exchanged views on current global and regional affairs. They additionally spoke about their experiences regarding the fight against the coronavirus pandemic. Mr Orbán informed his guest that Hungary had successfully procured large quantities of vaccines, and was therefore ahead of the majority of EU Member States regarding vaccination.

The parties further spoke about the Economy Restarting Action Plan, as part of which the Hungarian government is helping the recovery process with furlough grants, a credit debt repayment moratorium, tax cuts and interest-free credit for small businesses, Mr Havasi said.

According to the information of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr Cavusoglu’s visit to Budapest also serves to prepare for the fifth meeting of the Turkey-Hungary High Level Strategic Cooperation Council to be held in Ankara this year which will be chaired by Turkish head of state Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.
