Prime Minister Viktor Orbán received international geopolitical analyst George Friedman

On Monday in the Carmelite Monastery, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán received internationally-renowned Hungarian-born US geopolitical strategist George Friedman, Bertalan Havasi, the Prime Minister’s press chief informed the Hungarian news agency MTI.

At the meeting which was also attended by Minister for Culture and Innovation János Csák and Balázs Orbán, the Prime Minister’s political director, Mr Friedman presented his latest book ‘The Storm Before the Calm’ which was published in Hungary by MCC Press.

At the Monday meeting, the parties discussed the prolonged war in Ukraine and the latest developments of the grave economic crisis in its wake.

George Friedman was born in Budapest as the child of Jewish parents. Fleeing from communist dictatorship, his family first emigrated to Austria, and later moved to the United States. Mr Friedman has supported the work of a number of military and governmental agencies worldwide in the capacity of advisor. Between 1996 and 2015, he served as chief executive officer of the private intelligence firm and geopolitical think tank Stratfor which he founded himself. Since his departure from Stratfor, he has chaired the online publication Geopolitical Futures of which he is also founder. His works have been translated into more than twenty languages; several of his books are available in Hungarian.
