Prime Minister Viktor Orbán to nominate Barnabás Virág for post of deputy governor of central bank

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán will recommend the appointment of Barnabás Virág, Managing Director for Monetary Policy and Economic Analysis at the National Bank of Hungary, for the post of Deputy Governor of the central bank to President of the Republic János Áder, Bertalan Havasi, the Deputy State Secretary heading the Press Office of the Prime Minister informed the Hungarian news agency MTI.

According to the central bank legislation, the person nominated for the position of deputy governor is heard by Parliament’s standing committee for economic affairs; therefore, Mr Orbán informed Speaker of the House László Kövér of his nomination. The Prime Minister asked the Speaker of the House to take action for the hearing of Mr Virág in the committee.

According to the committee invitation that can be found on Parliament’s website, the hearing of the candidate for the post of deputy governor of the National Bank of Hungary will take place on 9 June.
