Prime Minister Viktor Orbán to visit Shanghai expo

On Monday Mr Orbán will attend the plenary meeting of the international economic and trade forum to be held at the venue of the expo, and will the view the most prestigious pavilions together with President of China Xi Jinping and the delegation heads of other attending countries.

During the day the Hungarian Prime Minister will also hold bilateral talks with the Chinese President according to plans, Mr Havasi said, adding that on Tuesday Mr Orbán will open the Hungarian country pavilion and will meet with executives of the largest Chinese companies.

According to the press chief’s information, the Hungarian government delegation to attend the Shanghai expo will include Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó, Minister for Innovation and Technology László Palkovics and Minister of Agriculture István Nagy.

The China International Import Expo (CIIE) will be held with the participation of more than 130 countries and regions. Some 2,800 companies will exhibit at the event which will last until 10 November, and Hungary will be one of the guests of honour.

Organisers of the Shanghai expo are hoping to see more than 80,000 Chinese and foreign companies attend the event as customers. In addition to Hungary, Brazil, Canada, Egypt, Germany, Indonesia, Mexico, Pakistan, Italy, South Africa, Vietnam and Britain will be the other foreign guests of honour of the expo.

Organisers of the expo are expecting 300,000 visitors to Shanghai, a city with a population of 24 million.
