Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s statement on Facebook
27 April 2022, Budapest

At its meeting today the Cabinet dealt with the issue of fuel and food prices. Prices are rising all over Europe, with the primary cause being the war; prices will keep rising for as long as the war continues. But we cannot afford to be passive observers, and so in Hungary the Government is doing everything it can to protect families from the consequences of these price rises. This is why we have introduced price restrictions, price caps, on fuel and some basic food products. The expiry date for these restrictions is approaching, so today we had to make a decision on this matter. We have decided to extend the period of our price restrictions on both product categories until 1 July. This means that the price of both fuel and these selected food industry products will remain unchanged until 1 July. We are doing our utmost to protect families.
