Prime Ministers of Visegrád countries to have talks with President of European Council next Wednesday

According to Polish press reports relying on EU sources, President of the European Council Charles Michel, too, accepted the invitation to the meeting of the Visegrád group to be held next week, and will fly to Krakow.

The Polish news agency PAP recalls that Poland has held the V4 presidency since 1 July 2020 which will end on 30 June. After Poland, Hungary will take over the presidency for a year.

The Visegrád cooperation is 30 years old this year. The establishment of the V4 group functioning as an informal forum for coordination among the Member States is tied to the meeting held on 15 February 1991 in Visegrád when then Hungarian Prime Minister József Antall, Polish President Lech Walesa and head of state of Czechoslovakia at the time (which has existed as two separate states since 1993) Václav Havel signed a joint cooperation and programme declaration.
