Romania’s new prime minister can count on Hungarian government’s support

In a message, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán congratulated Florin Citu on his election as Prime Minister of Romania, Bertalan Havasi, the Prime Minister’s press chief informed the Hungarian news agency MTI on Thursday morning.

“I’m convinced that in the years ahead Romania and Hungary’s cooperation based on mutual respect could significantly contribute to our countries’ growth, the enhancement of the European Union’s economic strength and our citizens’ welfare,” Mr Orbán wrote. He said he was delighted to learn that representatives of the Hungarian minority living in Romania have been given important positions in the new coalition government. “I sincerely hope that you will be able to realise every element of your government programme together. I’d like to reassure you for my part that you can rely on my government’s support in the development of relations between our countries, international cooperation and the achievement of our common goals,” Mr Orbán wrote in his message of congratulations.
