Viktor Orbán holds talks with Archbishop of the Melkite Greek Catholic Archeparchy of Aleppo

The Prime Minister’s Press Chief Bertalan Havasi told Hungarian news agency MTI that on Wednesday in the Parliament Building Prime Minister Viktor Orbán held talks with Archbishop of the Melkite Greek Catholic Archeparchy of Aleppo Jean-Clément Jeanbart on Hungary’s provision of further assistance to persecuted Christians in the Middle East.

The Hungarian prime minister received the church leader as part of a working lunch which was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister Zsolt Semjén and Minister of Human Capacities Zoltán Balog.

Mr. Havasi said that the parties discussed the fact that Hungary will provide financial support for the reconstruction of a school destroyed in Syrian battles, and will offer scholarship opportunities in Hungary for students from Christian communities.
